To the Future and Back

"I never worry too much about the future.
I go as far as I can see and when I get there I can see further." Wayne Newton

I understand that the only thing I can control is what is happening right now. Only this present moment, not ten seconds in advance. This quote (from robert @ powerfulplay dot ca) reminds me to be mindful right now and now and now and even now.

It's so easy to get caught up in the "what if", "what happens", "when". Can you imagine how simple life would be if there was no concept of future? Are dogs or cats concerned with what happens next week, or last? We're given the opportunity to function at a 'higher' level but that awareness also creates an opportunity for self sabotage or self deceit. Wouldn't it be nice if we consciously chose to accept life and change what we can and let go what is out of our hands.
